Khwai
Nestled on the northern boundary of the Okavango Delta, Khwai offers a rich blend of landscapes, ranging from lush floodplains to dry woodland. This area is part of the larger Khwai Community Concession, which is famous for its high game density, offering some of the best opportunities for spotting elephants, lions, leopards and even the rare and endangered African Wild Dog.
What makes Khwai unique is its ability to provide varied safari experiences. Visitors can enjoy traditional game drives, walking safaris with expert guides, and mokoro (traditional canoe) trips through the waterways, which offer an up-close look at the delta’s diverse birdlife and smaller wildlife. The Khwai River attracts large numbers of animals year-round, making it an ideal place for wildlife viewing, especially for those seeking to observe elephants in action.
For photographers, Khwai offers dramatic landscapes and incredible wildlife moments, whether it’s a pride of lions in the golden savanna or an elephant herd crossing the river. Its proximity to Moremi Game Reserve also allows for seamless exploration of both areas.
